Term: heparin pharmacodynamics pathway
Accession: PW:0002329

Definition: The pathway of heparin-target interaction and of the biochemical or physiological responses to drug. Heparin is a naturally occurring anticoagulant that binds to and activates the thrombin inhibitor antithrombin III (AT). Genetic variations can cause differences in the response of the organism to the drug.
